TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW
The WBUC2025 will be a seven (7) day tournament running from Sunday, November 16th to Saturday, November 22th, 2025, inclusive. Should weather (or other unforeseen circumstances) cause delays to play, the schedule will be adjusted to ensure the finals are played as scheduled on or before day 7. If severe weather occurs, the schedule or format may also be adjusted, and the number of games reduced. On-site registration will take place in the lead-up to the Tournament after teams arrive in Portimão. You will be informed of your booking time and location for team registration at a later date.
PARADE OF NATIONS & OPENING CEREMONY
The Parade of Nations and Opening Ceremony will take place in the early morning of Sunday, November 16th, followed by the Opening Showcase Game and some rounds if required. Times for the Opening Ceremony and Opening Game will be announced at a later date. Each team is expected to participate in uniform in the Parade of Nations and Opening Ceremony and to plan to play on Day 1.
COMPETITION SCHEDULE
The preliminary competition schedule will be distributed once all team fees have been received. This schedule will be customized according to the sizes of the divisions. teams should expect to play between one and three games daily during the first five days of competition. On the sixth and seventh days, there will be a shorter schedule, details of which are yet to be finalized. Finals will be hosted on Days 6 and 7 of the tournament.
OFFICIAL ATHLETE PARTY & CEREMONIES
The official Athlete Party will be held on Friday, November 21st in the evening. Medal Ceremonies will take place immediately following each final. The Closing Ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 22th, at the end of the last final of the tournament.
The WBUC 2025 will be under the leadership of Pedro Vargas, serving as the Tournament Director with Filipa Vargas, Inês Bringel Sofia Pereira working as key staff for the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), will work with key members from Clube de Praticantes Ultimate Portimão and other members of the Portuguese Ultimate community. Pedro and his experienced team have previously been involved in organizing large-scale Beach Ultimate events, like WBUC2004, EBUC2019, EBUCC2022 and WBUCC2024.
The Clube de Praticantes Ultimate Portimão is committed to growing the sport of Beach Ultimate and they are thrilled to be hosting WBUC 2025 in Portimão, showcasing their commitment to the sport.

In Portimão in November, the average air temperature ranges from 20 °C (68 °F) during the day to 11 °C (52 °F) at night. Being oceanside, it is normally windy with averages around 21km/h. Teams should prepare to play in all weather conditions as November is the second wettest month in the year (despite an average of only 7 days of rain in November).
Teams from all WFDF National Federation (NF) members in good standing are invited to participate at the WBUC in Portimão, Portugal. A team must have minimum of twelve (12) players registered on its playing roster and a maximum of twenty (20) players.
The WBUC will operate divisions following the team eligibility rules for team rosters (Section D) with a minimum of six countries per division:
- Mixed, Open and Women’s Divisions – A player participating in these divisions must be fourteen (14) years old or older during the calendar year in which the tournament concludes.
- Master Divisions – A player participating in a Master division as a female player must be thirty (30) years old or older during the calendar year in which the tournament concludes. A player participating in a Master division as a male player must be thirty-three (33) years old or older during the calendar year in which the tournament concludes.
- Grand Master Divisions – A player participating in a Grand Master division as a female player must be thirty-seven (37) years old or older during the calendar year in which the tournament concludes. A player participating in a Grand Master division as a male player must be forty (40) years old or older during the calendar year in which the tournament concludes.
- Great Grand Master Divisions – A player participating in a Great Grand Master division as a female must be forty-five (45) years old or older during the calendar year in which the tournament concludes. A player participating in a Great Grand Master division as a male must be forty-eight (48) years old or older during the calendar year in which the tournament concludes.
WFDF strives to protect transgender athletes and to recognize the importance of autonomy of gender identity in sport and has created clear guidelines with minimally invasive requirements for TUE submissions. The guidelines were developed by the Medical and Anti-Doping Committee. The WBUC will abide by timelines and requirements as outlined in the WFDF Transgender Athlete and Differences in Sex Development (DSD) Athlete Policy.

WFDF will invoice and collect all fees for WBUC. All fees are in US Dollars $ (please ensure your payment is made in the right currency).
The team fee is NOT reimbursable for any team that withdraws after making a team fee payment. Teams withdrawing after paying the team fees (for your own reasons) does not fall into the Cancellation policy for event cancellation. The player fee can be transferred to another player but is NOT reimbursable (subject to certain exceptions and medical restrictions).
All bank fees and transfer charges are at the cost of the payer – if there are any outstanding monies they will be collected in cash during on-site event registration.
Player Fees will include event accreditation, field and roster access for play, access to all player zones and meetings, access to the party, and the event gift and access to the podium to receive medals.
Non-playing Team Support fees are for people traveling and associated with the team (coaches, medics, support, admin, and guests) but are not taking the field to play. They will receive the same benefits as a player but will not be on any roster and are not entitled to play.
Spectators are non-accredited individuals who will not be able to participate with the team or take part in any of the event’s or team’s functions and will be treated as spectators.

Be advised that the event may be forced to cancel by governmental orders or may be perceived to be unsafe and cancelled by the organisers. The organisers may be forced into a last-minute cancellation due to events beyond their reasonable control. If the organisers are unable or unwilling to host the event or any specific participants at the event for reasons beyond their reasonable control, the event may be rescheduled, if possible. If a reschedule is not reasonably feasible, participants, teams and spectators may be unable to recoup any costs already expended for the cancelled event. Each team/participant is strongly encouraged to consider purchasing insurance to cover the costs (travel/accommodations/etc.) as a result of any cancellation or rescheduling of the event by governmental authorities, the organisers, or others.
